ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

This is a new website (thanks to Steve Hallam of SH Kickboxing in Stoke on Trent), and most of the pages are still under construction. However I will be trying to get at least an hour or two once or twice a week in order to build and update the pages.

Thank you for your patience when our 'old' website simply went down (good old Geocities just closed down). Some bits of news...

New SDF North East Rep

Due to Stuart Cutty being very busy and unable to teach as often as he would like at his club in Co Durham, and also having to 'stand down' as Area Rep (He has been excellent in both posts), his place has been taken by one of Stuart's and the SDF's 2nd Dans. CHRIS WILSON. Chris in a highly intelligent and excellent SDF 2nd Dan, and like all of Stuart Cutty's boys, well versed in the real arts. Those of you who have attnded my seminars in Doncaster will know Chris His name and contacts will be added to the Reps list shortly. WELCOME MATE

Another club joins, with another SDF Diploma Assessor.

About 18 months ago, I met a very dedicated Thai Style instructor, who came to Doncaster to take all the SDF Diplomas. He passed them all and in fact qualified as an Assessor back then. However he was renovating an old community centre in SOUTH KIRBY, and went off the scene for a while, although he continued to train and teach. Anyway, he is back with the SDF, and is also available for running Diploma Courses and teaching his brand of Thai Style Kickboxing & Self-Defence. His name is ADAM REDFERN, and his club is the S.E.S.K.U. Muay Thai & Boxing Club. Details will be posted on the Diploma Assessors & the Club lists. Welcome back Adam

INSURANCE COVER
Please note I have just recieved a new communication from our insurers.
They are now using NEW application booklets and have NEW rates commencing 1st January 2010
I have NO control over these rates, and I will do some more research to see if I can get better rates elsewhere.
the new Rates are:
£2million cover = £70.00p per instructor per year
£5million cover = £90.00p per instructor per year
£10million cover = £110.00p per instructor per year
This is for Instructors Public Liability

The rate for Personal Accident per instructor is £55.00p

MEMBERSHIP LICENCE RENEWALS.

Always a bit of a 'bone of contention', but renewals are always a struggle to get in... Many Club Heads are very good at keeping on top of their members Licence renewals... others not quite as good. We DO send out some reminders, but often in vain. I am still waiting for some renewals from both DEC 2009 and JAN 2010. Please don't forget that no membership means NO insurance cover. Thankfully we get very few insurance claims (hope I haven't jinxed it now saying that!), but we DID have one whose membership had expired and the Insurance Company turned his claim down. He was a self-employed man who lost 3 weeks earnings. He would have had SOMETHING from the insurance company if his membership has been valid and up to date.... SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR LICENCE AND RENEW IF NEEDED.

Note also: This website is intended as a informative website. I am somewhat 'conservative' as a person and although I admire many other sites, with great video photage etc etc, my time is at a premium what with running the SDF, running courses and seminars, and of course working for our Charity "Action for Society". This means I cannot spend hours uploading film clips, photos etc etc, and I intend (for the time being at least) to get as much relevant information on this site as is possible in order for the SDF to maintain and expand on its position as the UK's FOREMOST self-defence organisation. I hope you all understand and accept these viewpoints (even if you might not agree with them Ha Ha)

As mentioned I will be updating ALL the lists of clubs, instructors, Diploma instructors and Assessors etc etc, so no doubt I will be contacting you all for info. And just as no doubt I will probably miss somebody or mess something up, so please bear with me
